Is basil toxic to dogs or cats?
Safe in the amounts any dog would eat.
Safe for cats; some enjoy a nibble.
Basil is safe for both species, so the windowsill herb garden can stay. As with any strong herb, quantity brings diminishing returns and possibly a mildly upset stomach. Pesto is a different question: it is the garlic that disqualifies it.
Signs to watch for
- None in normal amounts
