The short version

Puppies and kittens get a series of three core vaccine rounds between roughly 6 and 16 weeks (DHPP for dogs, FVRCP for cats), because the immunity they drink in with mother's milk fades on its own schedule and the series covers the gap. Rabies arrives around 14-16 weeks and is required by law. Boosters land at one year, then settle into an every-1-to-3-year rhythm for adult life.

Non-core vaccines (bordetella, leptospirosis, Lyme, FeLV for outdoor cats) depend on lifestyle: daycare, hiking, region. That conversation belongs to your vet, who knows what is actually circulating locally.
