Pet age calculator

The old rule of one dog year equals seven human years is off: pets mature fast early, then age at a steadier pace that depends on size. This calculator uses the standard veterinary approximation.

29human years

Life stage: Adult

How it works

The first year of a dog's or cat's life is roughly equivalent to 15 human years and the second adds about 9 more. After that, each year counts for about 4 human years in cats and small dogs, up to about 6 in giant breeds, which is why big dogs reach their senior years sooner. It is an estimate for healthy pets, not a diagnosis.
