Is sago palm toxic to dogs or cats?

Severely toxic: liver failure. Seeds are the worst part.

Every part of a sago palm contains cycasin, which destroys the liver; the seeds are the most concentrated and dogs find them chewable. Survival rates are poor once signs appear, so any ingestion is an immediate emergency. A surprisingly common houseplant for something this dangerous.

- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Lethargy
- Jaundice
- Seizures
