Can dogs eat honey? And cats?

A small lick of honey is safe for healthy adult dogs, and it sometimes features in home remedies. It is essentially sugar, so diabetic and overweight pets should skip it, and very young puppies are traditionally excluded because of the same rare botulism-spore caution that applies to human infants. Cats gain nothing from it.
